Du spørger måske også dig selv – hvorfor bør man overveje 12G diske i stedet for de gode gamle 6G ?
6G vs. 12G
The benefits of 12G SAS for HDDs has more to do with maximizing the amount of potential throughput that you can achieve with a logical volume (not individual device performance). For instance, the max throughput you can achieve with a single 6G link is ~525 MiB/s. The max for a 12G link is ~1050 MiB/s. So with eight SAS links (P440/H240 have 8 SAS links) you have the potential for more throughput with a 12G solution:
- 6G SAS * 8 links = ~4200 MiB/s
- 12G SAS * 8 links = ~8400 MiB/s // Note that a x8 PCIe 3.0 (8G per lane compared to SAS at 12G per link)
